Daily… Ready for anything
This robot believed he was ready for anything!
I was noodling around in photoshop (haven’t really used it in quite some time) and he started to take shape. It’s funny how comfortable I feel with the program, I’ve just used it for so many years.

Daily… Fuzzy
I lost internet connectivity last night, so I’m finally getting a chance to post this one now. I was originally going to do a set of thumbnails for this daily image, but it got late, I got tired and I didn’t want to rush them.

Daily… Mouse guard
I started reading the Mouse Guard Fall 1152 comic, I’m enjoying it so far. Here’s a sketch inspired by it!

Daily… Comic panels
I’ve been looking at comics a lot recently and have been wanting to try out some paneling. An exercise had occurred to me, create a random assortment of rectangles on a page and then sketch into them with a bit of continuity. Meaning I didn’t have a story in mind, but just free form sketched the same character in multiple panels and see what, if any, sort of story could come out of it.

Daily… Another tower
Well my lighting shots didn’t happen, I was just too exhausted after work. I played with another tower idea.

Daily… Tower sketch
A quick sketch before bed. I watched a painting video by an artist (I’ll link to him later). He did some lighting keys (painting the same image four times with different lighting setups). It was really cool and inspiring. I think I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

Daily… Characters
A few character sketches. Since finishing the semester I haven’t spent much time on my daily images, I’ve mainly been doing sketches before bed. I think tomorrow I’ll start on something when I get home from work.

Daily… Egg sucker
I was watching a gnomon workshop dvd tonight about storyboarding. I liked their character and basic layout approach so I tried it with painter.

Daily… Muscles
A quick sketch, one of many I’ve been doing the last week to help learn anatomy.

Daily… A puppy
Well I’m finished with the semester, it got pretty intense at the end. I really was stretched thin between all my school projects and work, but regardless of where I finished, I feel that I learned a lot. I had one day of rest today, and now I go back to work for a few days.
Next week I have big plans. I’m going to rest, draw, go to the zoo, draw, play games, rest. That covers most of it I’m sure.
I wanted to do something different for my daily image today, but I wasn’t sure what (I’ve been doing a lot of environments ans characters recently). I thought, ah! I should go back to animals. The first image that came up after a google search for “animal” was two puppies running. So here’s a sketch of one of them.

Daily… Reference
I’m finishing my finals this week, here’s a quick sketch of Winnie the Pooh, my reference for my 2d animation.

Daily… A valley study
In photoshop I used custom brushes, often based off a texture, to help quickly block out images. I haven’t quite found the same workflow in painter, but today I did some experimenting with paper textures. I painted a number of paper textures overlaying eachother and then used the image warp plugin to randomize things. I then picked out shapes and painted what I saw.
