Daily… Awareness

That was when Charles realized he was not alone.

/note to self/ The pose on the duck should be pushed more, it’s rather static and doesn’t communicate that feeling he’s just realized something is creeping up behind him. Likely just stiffening the neck and bring the head back a bit more would help. /end note/

Daily… Simple character design/study

Well I’m definitely feeling better today, still pretty under the weather as it were, but the body aches are gone. I slept most of the day which definitely helped.

Started working on a super simplified dragon design. For my own amusement I threw in a panda and a giraffe variation.

Daily… Down for the count

I caught a horrible cold, my entire body hurts, every follicle of hair that is touched (by anything) sends a dull sense of pain across my body. I feel like I have new insight into zombies, I think I am the living dead.

This was the best I could scrawl out before falling into a drug induced coma.

Daily… Three creatures

As mentioned earlier, I got two free tickets to see Titus Andronicus. The show was awesome, the band was really good live and full of such energy. It was very inspiring to see people so good at their craft and one that I’ve had many a dream of doing myself.

Music is a very important part of my life, but I set aside playing when I went back to school, I felt the need to focus down. Seeing this band play, I felt sad that I haven’t pursued music more. I hope that one day I feel I can express myself with my art to the level I’d like and not just be working out the mechanics of drawing/painting/animation.

This drawing found me happily depressed after the show. I thank all the wonderful artists, both visually and musically, who inspire me on a daily basis.

Shows and getting stuff done

Well we’re about 90% unpacked. The place now looks like a place, rather than a room to store boxes! Our bedroom gets really cold in the mornings, but the insulation is pretty good on the place and it doesn’t take much to heat it (so once we heat it, it stays warm). I think we’ll have a relatively comfortable winter!

Kimi and I went to a show last night. We saw Cymbals Eat Guitars and The Freelance Whales at The Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. It was a pretty good show and I rather liked the venue. It was a smaller place, but felt cozy. The sound setup for the openers was decent, but I felt the settings for Cymbals Eat Guitars wasn’t ideal. They play loud and it just sounded loud, a lot of the subtleties of their music were just lost.

I entered a ticket giveaway from Slim’s in San Francisco and won! So I have two tickets to Titus Andronicus for tomorrow night (the band, not Shakespeare’s first tragedy, from which the band took their name).

I got a batch of my daily images updated on the site, I have two more to scan (as photoshop crashed on me before I could save them). Here’s to not falling behind again! I won’t hold my breath, but it’s a nice goal to keep in mind.
