Something I’ve been noodling away at when taking short breaks from work. I had the idea to practice painting armor and just kinda went from there. The armor doesn’t make a whole lot of sense (as far as functionality), but my goal was to work from imagination. Reference definitely has its place, but I want to get comfortable designing armor/clothing without having to rely on it (reference).
Took a break from my homework and did a study of a crusader helm. I always want to draw armored characters, but I don’t understand how armor works or is put together. Slowly working on figuring that out.

It’s been a long day, I had wanted to add a bit of tone to this, but just too tired. I like it so far, as a first pass sketch. It’s not something I’ve ever really drawn before. I see lots of areas that need work, but it’s exciting to see that I was able to get something down.
