Daily… A sketch painting of maru the cat
Have you met Maru the cat that loves boxes? I’m not much for internet memes or videos, the only ones I see are the ones I’m physically shown, but I came across Maru on cuteoverload and have been following him since.
This sketch painting was done on my laptop/tablet with painter. One of the big differences between painter and photoshop, to me, is painter’s lack of flexibility of quickly selecting and adjusting an image. In photoshop it feel very easy to make a selection and transform it, but it feels truly awkward in painter. As such, I don’t use that functionality when working in painter. I bring this up because Maru’s right eye feels off. I spotted it at the time, but was tired and didn’t want to repaint the whole eye. If I had been working in photoshop, I’d have just selected that area and rotated it.
Daily… In the rain
Caught in the rain, sometimes one needs to improvise an umbrella!
I like the idea here, but I think I’d like to revisit it. I’d like to clarify the “in the rain” story element and I think by putting the cat in a raincoat and rain-hat would help. I’d like to keep it simple, but I think a bit of color would be fun. I might redraw this one and try using watercolors.
