Daily… Incognito or on vacation?
I am ridiculously exhausted. I’ve been painting all day, working on my midterm project for Color and Design (a self-portrait, which I always enjoy). My daily drawings have suffered the last few days because of this project, I’ve just needed to focus all my time into it. But I’m done with it now, time to sleep.

Daily… Despicable drawing
We went and saw Despicable Me tonight, I was really surprised and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. Once I saw the trailer showcasing the minions I was intrigued, but still had my doubts. The film definitely hit the typical plot points one can expect, but the animation and characterization was all really good.

Daily… An alien
This was an interesting process. I sketched him out with pencils, then toned it with markers. I wanted the features to pop a bit more, so went over those with pen. I’m not into the graphic elements I did in the background, but I liked the process overall.

Daily… A dragon card
One of my marker cards, I’m really digging the copic sketch markers! This is one smug looking dragon!
I finally got the scanner hooked up today. It isn’t in it’s permanent location, but now I can start updating my daily images! Here’s today’s.

Daily… Markers
I do these little marker sketches for Kimi to take to work each day. One of the girls at the bakery I work at asked me recently to start bringing one in on the weekends, so I sketched this guy out. He looks like he could be a pilot to me.

Daily… Marker thumbnails
A few more vehicle thumbnails, this time done with markers. I want to take one of these and try rendering it out.

Sketchblog
Hello blog, justin here. I know it’s been a while since we conversed, I’ve instead been showing you my sketches on a regular bases. I’m on spring break right now, time to rest and get caught up on my backlog of projects.
Today I’m jumping back into my lipsync animation. I had been behind schedule on it and have until next week to finish it. Considering I have only four days off for spring break, I’m getting started now!
I’ve been getting a lot of art supplies recently. As mentioned earlier, I got a marker set and then today I bought a few oil paints. I got a black, white and a burnt sienna. They’re water mixable oils, so I don’t need any turpentine, no fumes sounds nice! They take a while to dry though, I was told two to three days. There are different mixable oils you can add, one of them speeds up the drying process. I’ll see if that’s necessary.
I’m going to be going to the S.F. zoo this week, at least twice. I want to get a bunch of sketching done while there.
I’m going to be changing my site structure around a bit. Originally I was setting it up as a portfolio, but my focus recently has been more on the sketch side of things. So until I’m actively job seeking, this site will be a sketchblog. What does that mean? Not much as far as the presentation you’ve seen so far, but more how I think about the site.

Honey and clover is in my room
Today I bought a set of markers, in the tradition of Honey and Clover, the set came with colors such as: oatmeal, taupe, mint cream, cold stone, wheat, putty, mocha light and others.
I am happy.
