Daily… A panda in the water
The last thing he had wanted to do was go for a swim. When 99% of your body is covered in fur, drying off is a bitch.

Daily… A creature sketch
I’ve been having a lot of fun getting back to pencil sketches and here’s another!
Original sketch size is about 2 x 4 inches. Scanned into photoshop and added a gradient for presentation.

Daily… Character portraits
Playing with exaggerated portraits and characters. I need to do pages of thumbnails of these!

Daily… Not an alligator
We saw the Princess Frog today, I was quite anamored with the alligator. I had planned on drawing one for today’s image, but while sketching, this guy came to be and I wanted to take him little further than the pencil sketch.

Daily… Pencils
I recently got a utrecht brand 2b pencil, it was feeling really nice when sketching on tracing paper. With that one pencil I could get nice lights and darks, it went on the paper really smooth. I noticed though that when I used it in my sketchbook, I wasn’t getting the same range of tone (in general it was much lighter). My sketchbook paper is much rougher than the tracing paper, I’m thinking that might be what’s causing the difference.
I bought a faber castell brand 2b pencil today and was trying that one out in my sketchboook, much nicer results! I’ll have to try this pencil out on tracing paper and see how it feels.

Daily… The great white giraffagator
A preliminary drawing with a bit of tone. More to come.
Oh, the project was to take three to four animals and create one creature out of them. I chose a great white, a giraffe and an alligator.

Daily… Adventurer sketch
Pencil sketch of a spacefaring adventurer. His ship in the background apparently has a mohawk. Neat.

Daily… Shedding his disguise
A quick pencil sketch taken into photoshop where I added a bit of tone.
