A quick sketch of a robot. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on with his design, as I was just free sketching and then later refining what I had put down. Is that his head up top, or some sort of robot headdress? I’m not quite sure.

Daily… What is that thing?
I was doing my usual thing, starting to paint without a clear goal in mind, aside from doing a lighting study. I quickly blocked in the silhouette, but had no idea what it was yet. I knew I wanted to go with some sort of creature, so I placed the eyes in quickly and then started to build up light and shadow in a sculptural way. Towards “the end” I felt it, as a subject, was too undefined (I really didn’t know what it was and it just didn’t speak to me). I started adding in more details, like the hands, suggestion of tail and legs as well as the eyes and fur for the second character.
It’s still pretty up in the air as to what’s going on, what they or it is, but now I feel it has character to it and perhaps some suggestion of story!
Photoshop, around 30mins.
Daily… Another panda adventure
A speedpainting of Panda’s adventure. I like how the image reads on the thumbnail size, but I’m not satisfied with the panda. Even for the purpose of a speedpainting, I would’ve liked to put a bit more effort into cleaning up his edges.
